When I Get Home, I’m Gonna Bust Out a Cold Beer

Yeah, I’m thirsty…and it’s Friday.  Therefore, I figure I would put the very same thought that’s in my head into your head.  Here’s an old ad from the 70s from Hamm’s beer.

A quick side note about this ad.  This commercial brings back memories of “The Dan Devine Show,” which aired on channel 16 in South Bend, Indiana.  For those that don’t know, Dan Devine was head coach for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish back in the late 70s.  The show began immediately after the last Saturday cartoon and they would show a Hamm’s commercial right before Dan Devine came on.  Nothing like selling beer to kids!

My Friend Steph Wants to See a Bartles & Jaymes Commercial-Here Ya Go Steph!

I was in Chicago over the weekend with my wife. We had the pleasure of spending time with parts of the old runnin’ crew. I was talking to runnin’ crew friend, Steph, about this here blog and she thought that since it was mostly bullshit, that it would be fun to see an old Bartles and Jaymes commercial. I don’t know why she wanted to see one as I didn’t ask. Maybe she wanted to relive those high school memories. You know, wine coolers and Purple Passion when mom and dad were away for the weekend. Who knows…

Hey! What’s For Breakfast? Hooray!!! Mom Bought Pac-Man Cereal

Here’s a classic piece of 80s marketing.  Remember Pac-Man Cereal?  I don’t.  I vaguely remember this ad, but only because of the song.  Regardless, like the cereal itself, this ad will really get your morning going!

You Look Like You Could Use a Cigarette…Here, Try the One That Makes People Come Out of the TV

Check out this 60s ad for Newport cigarettes.  It reminds me of Easy Rider.  After the boys pick up Jack Nicholson, they stop off to camp for the night.  Dennis Hopper offers Nicholson a joint and Nicholson responds with something to the effect of, “no thanks, I have my store bought kind right here.”  Well, Newports are a store bought kind and according to this ad, they make the people in the TV come out of the TV!  What’s in those Newports anyway, besides lung crystallizing magic?
